Once again our Spookathon was a ‘spooktacular’ success this year. Our sincere thanks to our parents and guardians, your support this year was absolutely fantastic. We appreciate your support so much. Our thanks too, to our terrifyingly talented teachers, screamingly super special needs assistants and spookastically superb secretary, who all engaged with the Spookathon spirit. And to the awesomely attired scholars of St. Kevin’s, we had Batman and Barbie, pirates and princesses, zombies, pizzas and iphones, what a brilliant bunch you were this year! We thought we would include a picture of one of our super scholars, who attended our recent pizza party. As you may know, our pupils with the best attendance, or most improved attendance, receive an invitation to our pizza party (which doesn’t happen very often so we’re delighted when it does!) and our St. Kevin’s scholar shows how his hard work and great attendance can be enjoyed!!

On Friday, our Parents’ Association hosted their annual cake sale in the Parents’ Room. All our parents and guardians were invited to bring or bake a cake – and we must say a huge and tasty thanks to all our parents and guardians who baked and brought cakes of all types and sizes – we had very cool chocolate cakes, fantastic fairy buns, super Swiss rolls and any number of brilliantly bakes goods and terrifically tasty treats. Our thanks as always for your support on the day. It was a great success and we certainly had a bunch of happy, cake-filled pupils, especially in Senior Infants!!! Our Cake Sale!!

Our Christmas shows took place in the week before our Christmas holidays. It was a great morning, with the talents of each class shining brightly, from our Junior Infants who performed the ‘ABC Nativity’ to the simply superb singing of our Senior Infants, who all sported the coolest Christmas jumpers! The amazing play, ‘Away with the Manager’ was performed by the amazing actors in our First Class and Second Class, along with a wonderful choral performance from our singing scholars in our Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth classes. Our newly formed school choir also made their début performance. It was a great morning and our sincere thanks to all our parents and guardians who offered their support and encouragement on the day! Our Senior Infants were quite simply spectacular this Valentine’s Day!! These guys created super pieces of art, ‘I love you to pieces’, with lollipop sticks and jigsaw pieces and also created beautiful cakes in our kitchen. Who knew that our Senior Infants are the best chefs in the school??!! Our brilliant boys and great girls also created cool cards, check out the short video of all the wonderful work!!

Not one week back and our simply sensational spellers were at it again! Each of our splendiferous spellers was seriously successful, simply scoring full marks in every spelling, what a trinity of stars!! To our spelling superstars, we salute your fantastic full marks and absolute awesomeness, well done guys!!

We would like to salute our two reading rock-stars for their fantastic reading over the last number of weeks. The boys have been taking part in our ‘Power Hour’ each day, giving their full efforts to every letter and word. These guys have also worked very hard with mum at home, each evening, ensuring they are the most improved readers in Senior Infants. We are delighted with these great guys, what a super achievement by two ‘Reading Rock-Stars’!

Our craziest congratulations once more to our spelling scholars, to our spelling superstars, we salute your fantastic full marks and absolute awesomeness! It is a fantastic achievement and we are delighted to see so many of you with full marks. What a brilliant bunch of legends you are!!

Make up a myth, imagine a diary, be a journalist, create a crazy cartoon, remember tall tales and scary stories, be a writer!! That’s what each of our super scholars did for the Blackrock Education Centre Write a Book Project did, and with some success too!! Cody was an outstanding winner but there were numerous commendations for our other super scribes too, we are very, very proud of you guys!! Well done!!
